'You can cut all the flowers but you cannot keep Spring from coming.'

~ Pablo Neruda

A little bit more about it

And why now?

It is Spring in the Northern Hemisphere and spring is springing around us everywhere. The lambs are teenagers and the sprouts have become confident saplings. Everything is vim, vigour and vivid greens and pinks. Earth wakes up as light begins to over takes the dark with a whimsical flirtatiousness.

It is a really juicy time to explore creatively AND it can be a lot of momentum to harness and make useful. It can sometimes feel kinda 'should-y' or ungrounded and giddy and the pressure to be productive can rush us into summer too quickly.

But young things don't know who they are yet. They need time to explore and play! They need time to discover themselves: do things for their own sake and for the hell of it. They need to be free to make some mistakes (ouch!) and mess about a bit.

This is where somatic movement is wonderful medicine. Let's remind ourselves of the simple joy of being in a sensing, feeling body. Let's ask how this emergent quality wants to take form in and through us physically. Then we'll move that quality towards creative expression and ask what wants to come through us from this softer, younger, more unformed place in us.

Let's explore.

Workshop Flow

This is a 3 hour (half day) workshop.

If you are joining via the recording, or revisiting, you can stop, start and explore at your own pace.

We begin by setting our intentions. We will do this via a guided somatic ritual for envisioning this moment in the year and how it is inside you - feeling (not thinking) your way into your intentions and your visions.

Then you will be invited to move that vision into physical expression. I will guide you in some somatic movement to music, exploring the tensions and potentials of this potent point in Spring where light and dark is equally balanced.

Then after a break, there's will be a sharing circle, followed by time to turn what ever we are present to into creative expression. This could be writing, drawing, painting, collaging or more moving. To support this you will be given potent seasonal prompts. To complete we have another sharing circle at the end and a closing prayer.

Workshop flow (timings are approximate):
~ Arriving / House keeping(10 mins)

Is This Workshop for Me?

The workshop is suitable for anyone who lives in a body! Hoorah!

You might be drawn to this workshop because you are wanting to practice being in that place of letting go of results. Maybe you want to get a bit more confident at play for its own sake, or creation for its own sake. Maybe you'd just like to spend a few hours being in your soft, sensory animal body for a change.

You don't need to have any experience of anything to join. Curiosity and a space to play in is all you need.

This workshop may not be for you if you don't enjoy movement or creative expression. It may also not be for you if you don't feel ready to explore from a place in yourself that has a 'who knows? let's find out!' quality.

This workshop may have therapeutic benefits, but is not a replacement for therapy. You may however find it very nourishing and good for everything. We work within a somatic coaching framework, which means the context is assisted self study and nervous system informed, guided exploration. You don't have to know anything or be an expert at anything. In fact Spring quite likes it if you have no idea what you are doing at all!
